How does the SeaPen work?
A SeaPen is a floating dry dock solution that keeps your boat dry while floating at water level. It creates an isolated enclosure around your vessel, with a built-in bilge pump that automatically checks for water every two hours and pumps it out if detected. A non-wicking rope mat inside the enclosure creates an air gap between the hull and the SeaPen’s inner skin, allowing for ventilation and keeping the hull dry between uses.
The result is a boat that stays dry at its mooring — without the need for a boatyard haul-out.
Is the SeaPen suitable for my boat?
The SeaPen is designed for boats approximately 6–20 metres in length and accommodates a wide range of hull types and drive configurations — including monohulls, catamarans, tri-hulls, pontoon boats, wake and ski boats, and trailer-boats. Compatible drive types include outboards, stern drives, jet drives, and V-drives.

Is a SeaPen worth it compared to antifouling?
For most boat owners, absolutely. Antifouling can cost several thousand dollars each time — and needs to be redone approximately every 12–18 months. With a SeaPen, your hull stays dry between uses, so you can skip the antifoul altogether.
A clean hull also means better performance and less drag on the water. Most owners recoup their investment within approximately five years or less, and the day-to-day convenience is hard to put a price on — your boat is ready to go when you are, without the ongoing trips to the boatyard. And unlike antifouling, at the end of its life you still have a physical asset on your hands.
Does a SeaPen require much maintenance?
We recommend an annual service to keep your SeaPen in top condition. All parts are replaceable, so if something needs attention you won’t have to replace the entire unit. Like any marine product, how much maintenance is involved depends on how well it’s looked after — but a well-maintained SeaPen is built to last. There are still well-maintained SeaPens in Australia that are over 15 years old.
